Re: Social worker lied
Dear ETcominghome1961,
Thank you for your post. I am Suzie, an online adviser replying to you today.
I am sorry to hear about your unsettling experience during your online meeting with a social worker about a special guardianship order.
You explain that the social worker refutes your assertion that a family member of the social worker walked past in the background during your confidential meeting, and this was put to the investigation team for your stage 3 complaint.
You want to know if you can obtain a recording of the meeting. Agreements about whether a meeting is recorded or not should be made at outset between all parties, and I do not know if this was done in your case. Therefore, it is more than possible that a recording of the meeting does not exist, though I cannot of course be certain of this, as I am not involved in any way, and can only give general advice.
You could put your request for any recording that could potentially have been made to children’s services. You can read more about requesting information from children’s services here.
You could ask the social work team manager or head of service to explain in writing, with reference to their local polices how confidentiality of service users is protected and how any breaches of confidentiality are addressed.
Information about complaining beyond children’s services is here.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Suzie
