This leaflet provides top tips to assist social workers when they are working with relatives or friends who are being assessed to become a special guardian, or who have secured a special guardianship order for a child, or who may consider becoming a special guardian for a child in the future. It also provides a checklist for senior children’s services managers to consider what policies, services and procedures need to be in place to support effective social work practice.
