Government family and friends care (also known as kinship care) guidance requires that all English local authorities have a family and friends care policy. It also requires that each authority identifies a senior manager with responsibility for overseeing this area of child welfare.
The Department for Education has now written to every English local authority, asking them under the Freedom of Information Act, for details of their local family and friends care policy and contact details for the senior manager with responsibility in their area. They will provide us with the response. As we receive these responses we will be updating this section with links to local policies and details of lead managers in local authorities.
