As a foster carer, you will be expected to:
- attend some meetings to discuss the arrangements and plans for the child. These include the Looked After Child Review meetings (LAC Reviews), which take place at least every six months, and meetings to discuss the child’s education;
- take the child for regular health checks. This could include visits to the dentist, optician, the child’s GP, the medical adviser who works for Children’s Services and any other medical appointments the child needs;
- tell the social worker about the child’s progress, and anything important that happens to the child; and
- tell the social worker if anything happens in your home which could have an effect on the child, such as people moving into or out of your home.
