My children are almost 9 and 13. are they too old to be forcibly adopted?

Dear LMBSE1971

Thank you for your further post.

You ask about your children being forcibly adopted. Children are placed for adoption where the court has decided that this is the best for the children welfare long term. Has the court made a placement order in respect of your children? I think children's services' plan is unlikely to be for adoption. Children are not forcibly adopted as there is a process that has to be followed.

If the court makes a care order in respect of older children as your children, the local authority’s care plan would be for long term foster care unless a family member or friend has been assessed to care care for the children under a child arrangement or special guardianship order.
Children of your children’s ages are not ordinarily placed for adoption.

You may find it helpful to read our advice sheets Care (and related) proceedings and Adoption: what does it mean for birth parents?.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

Suzie
