So in 2020 my 2 grandchildren were taken into care I did an assessment passed it, but failed the medical because they said I had EUPD I had never even heard of eupd. I have and told the assessor I had PTSD because that is what I have. It took me 2 years of my surgery going through all my medical records from the day I was born to put a document together saying I have never had or been diagnosed with EUPD, we went into lockdown and to this day I don't still don't see my grandchildren.
From June 28th 2025 under a police protection for 72 hours I got my 10 month old new grandchild. Social services turned up 48hrs in and told me to sign a section 20,her original sw turned up 96hrs later saying she was serving a section 47 and I couldn't keep the grandchild and other things she said were bias and labelling the Social Worker only works 3 days a week the section47 was served but i still had my grandchild but lived through sheer hell waiting for them to take her, not once did the sw check were grandchild sleeps or interactedwith her. we went court 17th The child's guardian had my previous assessment from 2020 and took the evidence of me never having EUPD the judge excepted this and placed grandchild in my care awaiting an viability assessment (this has changed) a meeting with the social worker days later she said my document from doctor could be a forgery, they now want me to do my assessment for foster carer but last week changed to sgo in a children's contact centre while my daughter has contact with grandchild today they have said they want me to do one 4hr session with a psychiatrist also in the children's contact centre, because in my first assessment in my house I am trying to entertain a 1 year old and answer questions to not 1 but 2 people that my grandchild doesn't know and is unsettled until she knows people I asked if family friends could look after my granddaughter during these assessments they say they need to do dbs on them all. So I am numb can you please help me I really need support as I am alone through this..

I am sorry to read that the situation you are in seems somewhat confused and stressful (excluding the day-to-day care you are providing for your granddaughter).

From what you have written your grandchild came to you under police protection, then their parent(s) signed a Section 20 agreement. A Section 47 inquiry was also being suggested and the social worker (at the time) suggested that your grandchild would not remain in your care (which was stressful for you).

Your grandchild came into your care because there was an emergency (or they were at risk of harm) as you suggest the social worker should have carried out a brief assessment of you/ your home and progressed to a longer assessment. Our guide about assessments may be helpful to you.

You have said that you have been to court. I imagine this relates to an interim care order, the judge ‘agrees’ that your grandchild should remain in your care during this interim process and the relevant assessments be undertaken. You are correct in suggesting that the local authority should provide support to your grandchild when you need attend meetings, they would need to undertake DBS checks on anyone you propose but the ‘can’ ask an approved foster carer to provide support. (I understand that this could unsettle your grandchild, being around new (strange) people might unsettle any child).
