Free school meals

Post by Suzie, FRG Adviser » Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:48 pm

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all keeping well in these unprecedented times.

For those of you with children who are eligible for free school meals, I wanted to let you know that whilst schools are closed due to coronavirus, those who are eligible can ask their school for a weekly voucher worth £15 (per child) that can be spent on food at a range of shops including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose and M&S, with more to be added. There is more information on the Department for Education’s website and if you have any questions, please contact your school.

In addition, we have been notified about a scam email going round pretending to be from your local authority, that says:

“As schools will be closing, if you’re entitled to free school meals, please send your bank details and we’ll make sure you’re supported.”

This is a scam. It is not from your local authority. Delete the email, do not reply and do not send your bank details. If you need assistance with free school meals, contact your school directly.

Best wishes

Suzie
