New user needing urgent advice
My granddaughter is subject to an SGO. She lives with paternal grandparents. However it has recently come to light that there is a possibility that my granddaughter has a different paternal father. If a DNA test proves this does the SGO become void. My daughter has been seen as a fit mother and has regular contact. Please can someone help

I don't think it makes any difference to the existing order as the court has decided that the current carers were the right placement taking into account the welfare of the child. The genetic relationship to the child is not really a deciding factor.
I guess it could mean that the birth father could apply for PR and then ask the court to place the child with him but your daughter"s views would also need to be taken into account.
However, a SGO is the next best thing to adoption, so depending on how long it's been in place, any court would think very long and hard before disrupting a 'permanent' placement.
Certainly nothing would change urgently.

Former F&F carer, foster carer, adopter and respite carer for umpteen children. Now retired and when with kids, making sure they 'go home' at the end of the day.
