Family Law Group

Post by STB411 » Sat Sep 12, 2020 12:16 pm

Hi I am wondering if anyone could help or advise me as basically the last 4 years have been hell, due to Social Services, police & mental health also education
My Daughter has been neglected by all above & I want to take it further-I have made a complaint to the police in which they are going to get back to me & also Ombudsman are looking into my complaint against social services -I just want to take it further & my solicitor said I should get a family law solicitor but have no idea who would take on these people as Social services seem to be able to do what they want & get away with it!!!!

You need to find a solicitor on the Children Panel within family law. Best look on the web or a children panel solicitor near 'your town' then ring them. Find out if they will act for the child as that would be free but there maybe issues about whether your daughter is able to instruct.
Former F&F carer, foster carer, adopter and respite carer for umpteen children. Now retired and when with kids, making sure they 'go home' at the end of the day.

Thank you
I recently watched Panorama in which children are not being educated my Daughter has not had any Secondary education
Mental health services don’t want to diagnose her till she reaches 18 but are giving her medication for things I brought up years ago
Due to my Daughters illness making false allegations the police stepped in & put her into care, when every single time they know she has lied but still continue to put us as parents on bail -in which she is unwell & being taken away from her family is cruel
Social services have neglected her & her needs & places her in unsuitable accommodations & because of that she has been sexually assaulted 3 times, nearly kidnapped, self harms & tries to ligature
I tried so hard to get her help & no one listened & due to that our family have been ripped apart & taken 4 years away her & how she will ever recover from that I don’t know which is why I want to fight as I have been treated like a criminal & torn away from my beautiful unwell daughter

Dear STB411

Welcome to Family Rights’ Group’s family and friends carers’ discussion board and thank you for your post. My name is Suzie and I am FRG’s online adviser. We do have a specialist parents’ discussion board which would be more suited to you but I will respond here. If you have further queries please use the parents’ board.

From what you say I think your daughter is currently in foster care – I assume under a care order – or has been in foster care, and you are very unhappy both about the circumstances in which this happened and the care she received there. As well as this you have very serious concerns that she was sexually assaulted and self-harms. I hope that all your concerns have been investigated by children’s services. As you state that you think they have neglected her it seems that they you were not satisfied with their response. You are also worried about her mental health which appears to be undiagnosed at the moment.

You are already addressing your complaints about the police and children’s services to the police complaints board and to the Local Government Ombudsman (LGO). You are being very proactive and taking the steps we would recommend if unhappy about how you and your daughter have been treated.

You have a solicitor involved although they are not a family lawyer and they suggest you should explore getting a family lawyer. You would have had legal representation when your daughter was the subject of care proceedings. Although the police may have been involved when your daughter was taken into care or there may have been related criminal proceedings it would have been the local authority’s children’s services who applied to the family court for a care order. You can search on the law society website for a children law accredited solicitor. They will want to know what is the focus and outcome of your complaint with the LGO and what action you are thinking about taking. Please also see the good advice given by another poster in their earlier response to you.

You might find Young Minds to be a helpful resource in relation to your worries about your daughter’s mental health needs. Her social worker should of course be making sure that she gets the right help too. This includes making sure she has access to education. I guess these are all the issues you have already put in your complaint so hopefully you will get a response soon.

If you would like to speak to an adviser about your daughter’s situation and any current concerns about children’s services then please do ring the freephone advice line on 0808 8010366 – it is open between 9.30 am and 3.00 pm, Mon to Friday. If you have a new query you are also welcome to post again on the parents’ board.

I hope this is helpful.

With best wishes

Suzie
