Parliamentary Taskforce regional meetings and FRG kinship survey – invitation to all friends and family carers

Post by Forum Administrator » Tue Feb 19, 2019 2:01 pm

A national cross-party Parliamentary Taskforce on Kinship Care has been up by Anna Turley MP, with the support of Family Rights Group. The aim is to raise awareness about, and support for, children in kinship care and to highlight how important this option is for children who cannot live with their parents. You can read more about the work of the Parliamentary Taskforce on Kinship Care here.

Taskforce discussion meetings with local MPs are now being held in different regions of England and Wales, which are open to all kinship carers and all kinship support groups, including special guardian groups. The meetings are an important opportunity for kinship carers to share their experiences with MPs and to help MPs identify the issues that matter the most. If you’re a grandparent, sibling, friend, aunt or uncle raising a child who can’t live with their parents, we want to hear about your experiences, challenges, and ideas for change. You can find out more about the regional meeting details here.

Don’t forget, FRG is conducting a survey on kinship care that you can find online here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/DRTRXWQ. If you’re a kinship carer, please do complete the survey and feel free to share this link with any kinship carers you know who you think would be interested in taking part.
