some folk don't deserve kids!

Post by Aunty Lucy » Sun Jan 30, 2011 12:47 am

I have a child in my house, an extra one. he's 13 and his mum is a drug addict.
This kid has just come home to her a few weeks ago from foster care. He knocked on my door at midnight to ask if he could borrow my sons bike to go look for his mum, he was frozen and hungry, he's on his third ham sandwich as I type!

I've been back home with him, it's only a few houses down, and he climbed in through a broken window, locked that and climbed out through another broken window. I wrote a short note telling his mum where he is and that I'll make sure he's home in the morning.

He's going to be sleeping on my sofa tonight, but when I go up to bed I'm going to ring the central duty team and let them know where he is.

He's a lovely kid, he knows exactly what his mum is doing, it's such a shame.

What on earth were they doing letting the poor lad home.

I dont know who I want to shake some sense into here, the mum or the SS who sent him back.

I have no idea Help.
I phoned SS and I got a call back within ten minutes asking me to check where his brother and sister are! He lives im my street and I never knew he had a brother and sister!
anyway, according to the lad they're safe at his grandmas.
SS said there'll be an emergency SW at my house first thing in the morning, asked me if I'm ok with him being here tonight (I said just for tonight)

Poor lad said he's been alome since 6pm, siad his mum usually goes out but is back by ten pm, but on the nights he's on his own (yeah, I know! she's back by ten but he has nights alone!) he gets scared bacause people try to get in the house.

I worry when I'm at work and kids at school......I cannot imagine how these parents dont seem to give their kids a second thought.

Well, the good news is the duty SW seems to have taken it seriously.
I've had 3 phone calls back asking for info and the police have just been round, I've been checked on PNC and they're out looking for his mum now.
The sad news is the lad seems to have seen it all before.

You must be shattered Aunty Lucy.

Lets hope mum doesnt rock up with a great story to explain herself and things arent left the way they were. You may find yourself with a frequent visitor if that happens.

Police have been again this morning for a statement from me. Mum's in custody for child abandonment and a social worker is supposed to be coming this morning.
