Get it in Writing

I know it's a bit hard when you are dealing with social services / children's services, and all the emotional blackmail is used to coerce you in to taking on a relative, and I would presume that most people looking on this forum have already committed themselves to doing just that. However, if not, ...

Re: Important appeal court win for grandparents

It has been a very long and tedious path since my initial post on this forum, but I have been through all avenues open to me via the councils internal complaint procedure, and the LGO. It transpired that the stage 2 complaint revealed that the authority doesn't have a clue about how this case should...

Re: Looked after Child??

Surely this is old news, the other case involving this practice, was in 2011 / 2012, and involved KCC and "Granny X", just one mention of that made my LA suddenly cough up with the age related maintenance allowance at FC rate. More interesting is the same solicitors report involving the Lo...

Re: Another Major Breakthrough??

I've copied below an extract from the Ridley and Hall website concerning this case, as interpreted by them as to the conclusion of this matter. "The High Court heard the case in February 2013. The judgment was given on 8th March 2013 that found the council’s policies were unlawful because they ...

Another Major Breakthrough??

Having received an e-mail containing a FRG newsletter, my attention was drawn to an article concerning Tower Hamlets and a decision that their payments discriminated against related foster carers. Is this the same as the Grandmother X case against KCC, or are there further implications in this parti...

Re: Looked after Child??

I am merely trying to cover all points by asking about this LAC situation, as I said previously, that keeps cropping up every time the subject of finance is muted. I can't comprehend how a RO payment is discretionary, albeit I concede that the instigation of any such payments, might be, at the incep...

Re: Looked after Child??

There has recently been a change of management at my L.A., and it appears that the new head of department is basically a right bloody tyrant. As we live in France the system for schooling, medical care etc is rather different. For example we have to pay, approximate figures, 80 euro a month, top up ...

Looked after Child??

Due to yet another round of time wasting tactics displayed by the intransigent, deceitful and underhanded local authority I am dealing with, I am seeking advice as to whether my granddaughter would be deemed as having been a "looked after child" before she was placed with us. Basically, fo...

Contact with LA

Not so much contact with a child but with the local authority Having had a reasonable relationship with the above for some months, I was informed that my normal Family Services Manager was being relocated. I did have some issues to raise but thought it would be prudent to await her replacement befor...

Re: Important appeal court win for grandparents

Thanks once again Mr Roth, I will attempt to ascertain the criteria mentioned, unfortunately, and I can only comment from my own experiences with KCC, they do not come straight out and tell you the facts, and all the documentation is written in such a way as to confuse you even more. In the meantime...
