New study finds Lifelong Links improves children in care’s mental health and wellbeing

Post by Jsewell_FRG » Wed Apr 06, 2022 11:06 am

A new report published by Family Rights Group shows the approach improves mental health and wellbeing for children in care. Since 2017, over 1700 children in care have benefited from Lifelong Links to build relationships with family, friends and others who love them. The study builds on an earlier evaluation by the Rees Centre which showed Lifelong Links has led to an improved sense of identity for young people, greater stability in their care placement and more social connections.

The new report also indicates that Lifelong Links can help shift the culture in the way local authorities work with birth families. But it concludes that there is an ongoing need for commitment to Lifelong Links across all parts of the local authority children’s services department.

The report is now available to read on our website: https://frg.org.uk/news-blogs-and-vlogs ... wellbeing/
