Tips for how to follow up what is agreed in meetings
Make sure that your child’s social worker or chair of the meeting sends you the written notes (or minutes) of the meeting. Check this written record against your notes of what was agreed.
Make sure that the timescales for doing things are clear and agreed with everyone at the meeting.
If you want the notes to be translated from English into another language ask for this before or at the meeting.
If you agreed to do things, make a list to help remember what you have to do.
You do not have to wait until the next meeting with your child’s social worker to tell them about important changes for your child or for you. If you think the plan for your child needs to be changed in some way you can ask at any time for it to be looked at again.
