Your Family, Your Voice – An Alliance of families and practitioners working to transform the system
|Family Rights Group is delighted that we have received funding from Lankelly Chase Foundation to develop Your Family, Your Voice – An Alliance of families and practitioners working to transform the system (formerly working title the Struggling Families Alliance). The 3 year programme of work which began in June 2014 is led by Family Rights Group with empirical research conducted by Professors Brigid Featherstone and Kate Morris.|
What will Your Family, Your Voice try to achieve?
The Alliance will work to:
- Counter the stigma, negative presumptions and judgemental approaches to families whose children are subject to, or at risk of, state intervention by influencing how these families are perceived by the public and portrayed by the media and politicians;
- Influence law, policy, practice and service design and delivery so that our child welfare, child mental health, youth justice and education systems promote effective human functioning and healthy relationships;
- Enable these families to have a voice in policy and decision-making circles.

The early development stages of the Alliance
The Your Family, Your Voice Alliance is conducting an on-line survey of social workers
We want to know your motivation for entering the profession, what aids or hinders job satisfaction, what approaches you have found effective in helping children and families and what changes you'd like to see implemented at national and local level. Please do complete the survey and promote it to colleagues. Initial survey findings were discussed at the Alliance meeting on 3rd June.
