New Government family and friends care (also known as kinship care) guidance required that all English local authorities have a family and friends care policy in place by 30th September 2011. It also requires that each authority identifies a senior manager with responsibility for overseeing this area of child welfare.
Family Rights Group on behalf of the Kinship Care Alliance has now written to every English local authority, asking them under the Freedom of Information Act, for details of their local family and friends care policy and contact details for the senior manager with responsibility in their area. As we receive their responses we will be updating this section over the next month with links to local policies and details of lead managers in local authorities.
