We provide advice to parents, grandparents, relatives, friends and kinship carers who are involved with children’s services in England or need their help. We can help you understand processes and options when social workers or courts are making decisions about your child’s welfare.

Our online advice forums are an anonymous space where parents and kinship carers (also known as family and friends carers) can get legal and practical advice, build a support network and learn from other people’s experiences.

We are a charity that advises parents, grandparents, relatives and friends about their rights and options when social workers or courts make decisions about their children’s welfare. Time to Define is a major campaign from Family Rights Group to improve recognition and understanding of kinship care with a single definition written into legislation and for all kinship families to have guaranteed support when they need it.
The All Party Parliamentary Group on Kinship Care is a cross party group of MPs and Peers who share a common interest in championing kinship care and improving support for kinship carers.
Family Rights Group’s councillors’ network is a partnership for change with local councillors from all parties to improve outcomes for children and support for parents and kinship carers.
As digital advice has become a bigger part of our advice service would we like to evaluate its impact are asking people who used our digital advice between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024 to complete an online survey.
