Family and friends carers matter discussion board

This message board is specifically for family members (and friends) who are raising a young relative or have serious concerns about a child/children within their family. You may be a grandparent whose grandchildren are living with you because they cannot live with their parents, or an older brother raising your young sister, or an aunt, uncle, cousin etc with concerns about a child in your family. The board is specifically funded for this purpose and we will delete messages from the board that are not directly relevant.

You can view and read discussions before registering but in order to contribute you need to be a registered member. If you would like to register now please click here. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes.  The only required fields are your Username and a valid e-mail address.  Please do NOT use your surname as part of your Username, as this could affect your anonymity. Once you've filled in and submitted the registration form, you will receive an email with a link that you will need to click on in order to activate your registration.

Our advice staff monitor the discussion board on a regular basis and attempt to post answers to any questions. However, if you wish to speak to someone in person please contact our advice line on 0800 731 1696.

Safety on the Internet

It is important to safeguard yourself at all times when using the internet and that includes when you are posting on this forum.

Providing personal information about yourself, or the children you are looking after, can carry an element of risk, whether you are posting directly onto the forum or entering into an email correspondence with another poster.  You must bear in mind that Family Rights Group has very limited knowledge of who other posters are.   When registering, we strongly advise against using surnames as part of your username. Please do not put your personal email address or any other contact information in your postings as this could be exploited.  It is completely unacceptable for anyone using the site to try and acquire personal information about others. We are currently exploring options to put extra safeguards into place.

We'd like the discussion boards to be a safe place for people to exchange ideas and talk about subjects close to their hearts. For this reason we may occasionally remove postings, either because they are offensive or abusive, or because they are libelous and could put us in legal jeopardy. If messages are off topic they may be removed or placed in a more suitable area. We also reserve the right to ban visitors who use offensive language or act in an antisocial or unacceptable way.

  1. Please be aware that posting on a board is not always the same as talking and something that might be said in a lighthearted manner could easily be misunderstood or taken the wrong way and cause offence.
  2. Writing in CAPITALS is known as shouting, and some people find this offensive (it is also harder to read).
  3. We will not tolerate racism, sexism or homophobia in any posting.
