Basil , are you free to describe the ways in which your son was neglected in more detail and tell us how he might have died?
The problem, of course, with many ASD children is that they cannot communicate and anything could be done to them. How can parents find out if they are unable to access doctors etc. The CS deliberately prevent us obtaining medical reports and at contacts stop us from raising controversial subjects with the children themselves. Suggest at a LAC review your children are being neglected in care and the social workers go blue in the face with anger! What are they so afraid of revealing?

When our daughter started having severe tantrums, developed epilepsy, started to self-harm and show other peculiar behaviour, it was the paediatrician not us who suggested the possibility she had been sexually abused. The CS would not look into it and they won't talk to us about it.

Because of her ASD it's impossible to find anything out by asking her.

Heaven alone knows what neglect or abuse she is suffering.

I've coined a new phrase for the apparent evaporation of anyone who is unavailable to talk to you within children's services. It's called "tactical avoidance". No other company, business or infrastructure could operate if the key account holder/staff member for a case was off ill/on holiday so why does the local authority think it's reasonable to use this to keep you from receiving answers?

We are waiting for them to confirm and revise the care plan from adoption to long term fostering. An application to discharge the placement order has been stated by the judge to be in by the 23rd July. Two solicitors and at least one barrister have been chasing and "tactical avoidance" is being deployed. They are doing this deliberately but you can't prove it. Make yourself a bleeding nuisance is all you can do.

well said, I totally agree. they are meant to help children and families, but no one has told them they go for adoption as it saves them money. long term fostering costs. it all stinks. revise a care plan, that's to simple they are probably trying to dig something up, so it doesn't get changed

Basil,Please can you give me some advice? I will be eternally grateful for it .
Under which statute have you taken the LA to court? Which court did you have to apply to , is it the Family proceedings court or another one? What have you actually alleged? Is it 'failing' in 'duty of care' or some other offence?
As I have said before, I want to take action like you have .Where do I apply ? Please don't say see a Family Law solicitor as they are very averse to taking any action at all against a local authority on the grounds that you simply cannot win. What did you do?

To all on the FRG forum,

It is evident to me that quite a lot of the cases coming up on the forum involve special needs children ,particularly ASD,ADHD and so forth.

To me it seems these children are being targeted. So I am surprised that no-one has contributed their experiences to this thread.I want to remind you all to request expert reports from psychologists specialising in autistic spectrum. Also I suggest that appellants use the lack of such opinion as one reason for appeal.

If you look up the University of East Anglia; it has done much research into the system up and down the country, interviewing social workers etc. The research reports quote sw's saying things like : autistic children are easy cases, real money-trees.

Sure as the day is long, I believe they are targeted! Sadly when they are neglected or abused in care, many can't speak up for themselves which is one of the things which I am very concerned about since my daughter was moved from a foster-carer to a residential home. There is also a massive problem with prescriptions for Ritalin and other drugs..

Why are sw's under so much pressure to shanghai children into care that they are quite prepared to act illegally, contravene frameworks and issue verbal threats to parents? What are their true aims and why are they so nasty and cold-hearted? They don't appear to have any real respect for children or the Children's Act.What are the CS hiding when they make contact so difficult? Why do they stop you consulting doctors and getting involved in their welfare as per your parental responsibility? Why are they so reluctant to tell you where the adoptive placements are when adoption is the plan and why do they encourage no future contacts ? How many adoptive placements breakdown and why aren't parents informed when they end up in residential homes? Are they really in an abusive place? This message is not intended to be alarmist or disrespectful of good ,honest sw's. However, you may be aware of scandalous sw practices described on recent t.v. Documentaries and DVD's which I shall not advertise here.

PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR YOUR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN. Especially vulnerable are those who have parents with ASDH and such conditions themselves and unable to communicate properly themselves.

PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR THEIR CHILDREN TOO!
