Hi. I have been battling a social worker and her manager for many months and believe me they will do whatever it takes to make their case stronger. When I was in court applying for guardianship the social worker (opposing my application),stated that my voice often sounded slurred when I phoned her office! I have about 2 shandies in a week, in the evening after badminton!

It gets worse. In the court report she stated our foster child C said, 'that at night when she's gone to bed I watched adult movies'. I have Netflix. Is there an adult in the country who doesn't sometimes watch over 18 films? Is there a better time to watch adult movies than when your child is in bed? Of course she was had cleverly phrased the words to imply they were pornographic films - which was totally untrue and possibly a slanderous statement.

Dear RDH21

Thank you for your post and welcome to the parents’ discussion board.

You have given very little information about how children’s services became involved with your family. The concern that you have mentioned in your post is that the social worker on your case is making things personal and using her personal concerns. It is difficult to really advise you as you do not say what things you are referring to, the social worker can form a professional view in looking at your case.

It might help you to read our advice sheets Family support where children are on a child in need plan or Child protection procedures where there is a child protection plan.

Unfortunately, I am unable to offer you more advice as there is insufficient information. If you have an issue with the social worker, it might help if you ask for a meeting with the social worker’s team manage so you can let him or her know about your concerns.

Should you wish to speak to an adviser please telephone our free confidential advice line on 0808 801 0366. The advice line is open from 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

Suzie
