NIce shoes?

I need your advice please as I think I am being portrayed as a bad man by the SW to my little girl and the statement has me worried.

I have met with ****** .
***** is settled in the placement.
She is back at the school and is getting back into the routine after summer break.
She asked me why she has to wear Clarkes shoes, I explained to her that your dad has expressed the wish that this is best for your feet. She said she would like to wear nice shoes like my friends. I told her that it is best if you wear Clarke shoes at school and playing out, however on special occasions may be wear fancy shoes. I hope that is okay .
I am now trying to think of a letter to write to girl to rectify this before Monday
The family has always had Clarkes for school

Am I right or over reacting again
