I have been given a CAF target that goes as follows
(dad) not to use any form of physical chastisement
I said in a CAF meeting that I use a slight smack on the hand or behind the legs as a form of behavier correction. I know you can use other forms of behaviour correction but I do not leave a mark and it is reasonable punishment and my god dam parental right.
So how do I go about removing this target from my CAF action plan
Under Section 58 of the Children Act 2004, it is unlawful for a parent or carer to smack their child, except where this amounts to ‘reasonable punishment’, though this is not defined in the legislation. As such, whether a smack amounts to reasonable punishment will depend on the circumstances of each case, taking into consideration factors like the age of the child and the nature of the smack. Physical punishment will be considered ‘unreasonable’ if it leaves a mark on the child or if the child is hit with an implement such as a cane or a belt.

Re: I have a CAF Target that is against my parental rights
Its ok, I wrote a complaint to the director of communities and people and I have been given an apology and the CAF report has been amended. I am so glad I have some skills in writting or I would get nothing done.

Dear Blueplain,I am glad to hear you have managed to get the CAF report amended and other parents can learn from this.
You seem to have found a way in which parents can go in above the heads of the CS without having to resort to the official complaints procedures.
Perhaps you could explain to us who the Director of Communities and People is , what are his functions and what power he has. Also does every Local Authority have one of these good offices and do we all have a right to contact his office to get action the same way?
Finally, personally I don't know what CAF stands for, please oblige.
It's great to hear that you have got the social worker overruled as you have.As many people have found when they challenge these petty tyrants on such points of order or on other matters of crucial importance to human rights, and even though they know they are wrong, they just 'TURN THEIR BACKS ON THE TRUTH AND DO IT ANYWAY'.
Thanks. in advance, from all parents for any advice you can give us.

The director of communities and people is the person in charge of a lot of things within the region, this includes overall authority over the children services. The director of communities and people can instigate a investigation on your behalf within children services. The trick is to make a calm well written complaint to the director. The director normally responds very quickly and it is far more efficient and a lot faster then the complaint procedure.
CAF is a common assessment framework, this is a voluntary level which does not involve a social worker. It is literally the lowest level of support and hopefully I wont be on this long either.
So I recommend anyone who has an issue to get the email of their regions director of communities and people because the director is in The perfect position to resolve issues quickly.
In fact I best make a separate thread with this bit of advice because it has been very useful for me.
