Need Help With Getting Children Home

Post by saddadandy » Tue Oct 04, 2011 12:49 pm

Hi i am a dad and our 2 children was taken in to care by social work in scotland in 2006 the councill has parental rights now and we see the boy age 13 2 times a year we write and chat on the phone 1 time a month and have never seen or telephoned or had a letter back from our daughter since 2006 please dont go on that the scottish system is different its not really its very similar sorry to go on but we have had no help as solicitors support groups say this all the time its very similar only they dont use a family court.

i cant write very well so please bear with me my wife has learning issues mild ones very slow is a way of describing her condition since we asked for help for our children in 2006 to social workers they then made stories up attacked my wife verbally when she was on her own made up some lies colluded with support workers had conversations in cars while a police investigation was going on which wasnt allowed.

They finally got my wife going mad she couldnt cope she kicked our daughter on 1 ocassion in the leg police and social workers charged her with 3 kicks then the wife set fire to the home letter box again mental health the property or people was in no danger this was in october 2006 and then it all went down hill jan 2007 we lost our 2 children now we hardly see them the social workers reduced contact bit by bit we realize somethings was wrong but not enough to get my wife ill and to blame each other after blaming the parents they split up the kids as soon as they went to care so for 5 years the children dont see each other only when weather permits they are some 175 miles apart.

we need a scottish lawer a scottish human rights lawer or a miracle worker to make us understand what went wrong the police never charged us with anything as we never abused our children at all or neglect was only minimal we needed help we got our kids away from us now they are suffering

both children has experience many homes and even a physical threat to our sons life or well being since being in care.

help needed

A sad dad

I am very sorry to hear that your children are in care. Unfortunately, as you are based in Scotland I do not have the expertise in Scottish law to help you. I can give advice on law in England and Wales only.
You could try

Parentline Scotland who may be able to refer you to an appropriate service
,http://www.children1st.org.uk/index.php?page=18&s=46

Scottish child law centre
http://www.sclc.org.uk/

Best wishes,

Suzie

Dear saddadandy,

I am sorry that I can offer only very limited advice to you. Even though you live in England your children are subject to the law in Scotland and I would be wrong to offer you any legal advice.

However, there is research about contact with children in care and how important it is for children to continue to see their family in many cases. This is contained in our advice sheet here.

I hope this is some help.

Best wishes,
Suzie
