Dear historygirl81

Welcome to the parent’s discussion board. My name is Suzie, one of FRG’s online advisers.

Sorry to hear your worries about the prospect of Children’s Services becoming involved if you withdraw your consent for the daughter to be accommodated. However, it is not advisable to do this without seeking legal advice first, for fear of not being seen to be acting in her best interests.

As you correctly point out, both you and the family friend (rather than the Local Authority) continue to share parental responsibility at this stage. The Local Authority would need to apply for this through the courts.

Furthermore, the Child Arrangement Order was meant to last until your daughter reached 18 years. However, once a young person reaches 16, their views about where they wish to live are given more validity.

I hope this helps.

Best Wishes

Suzie
