Advised by Social Services to safeguard child

Post by Lollylou53 » Mon Mar 18, 2019 6:18 pm

My son has recently had concerns that is ex was trying to damage relationship with his daughter (parental alienation) father has residence, mother has cont act order due to historical mental health issues. Recently CSC asked him to safeguard daughter and she has no unsupervised contact due to evidence to substantiate his concerns. Mother has requested the father is given no information regarding what has happened. He has said he can't safeguard his daughter without having knowledge of risk and cannot trust mother to put anyone forward he can trust. Anyone been through the same. Apparently it's down to data protection.

Dear Lollylou53

Thank you for your post.

From what you say you are a grandparent and perhaps you will find it more useful to post on our Family and Friends Care Board.

However from what you have written it seems that your son has a Child Arrangements Order in respect of his daughter and there are some concerns that Children’s Services have raised about her mother’s parenting.

If there are child in need or child protection concerns, perhaps your son should ask the social worker whether those concerns may warrant him going back to court and asking a judge to vary the contact arrangements that have already been agreed.

If Children’s Services say that they cannot share their concerns with your son because they are ‘personal to someone else’ and they believe that your granddaughter’s mother’s chosen contact supervisor can safeguard appropriately may not be easily resolved and matter may have to go back into court.

I hope this information helps.

Best wishes

Suzie
