Some members may appreciate knowing there’s a programme on tonight at 9:00pm on channel 4 called “Married to a paedophile”. May give some members some help and support ❤️

I wish I'd noticed this in time. It would be interesting to know how it went. It's probably about as close as it will get to showing that offenders are actually human, but I can imagine the reviews the next day if too much 'sympathy' is given. The usual mouthpieces from the children's charities, campaigners and of course our friends at social services. 'Experts' who know nothing and in a real sense are more 'sex obsessed' (the fear of it and inflation of risk) than the offenders! The very title does not bode well. Hardly anybody is a 'paedophile' (ie born that way, unchangeable or 100% attracted to kids), but it's a vast spectrum of varying degrees of behaving badly and/or getting mentally ill in the context of overall sexuality, psychological experimentation more often than not in the uniquely and highly corruptive internet environment. If the husband in question is a contact offender, then that's different, but even then his behaviour might have been a 'mistake' (admittedly a bad one) rather than a real disposition. The point is it's so ****ing easy not to re-offend for many of us, and the substantial majority of internet offenders especially just want to move on and forget it and be allowed to forget it; virtually impossible in today's climate even after the sentence is supposedly served and rehabilitation is done. And - you guessed it - the CS play a leading role in this unconstructive and all-round damaging state of affairs. No wonder they don't call themselves 'social' services anymore; they have no interest in relationships and reconciliation, only covering their backs re. children, with the bitterly ironic result that many children's formative years are damaged not protected - because there IS nothing to protect (few offenders carry their feelings let alone behaviour over to their own children). Those zealots have no ethical grounds for interfering if there is no specific evidence of familial abuse. Also as bad - and I suspect a topic of the programme - they have no right to harass adults who are attempting reconciliation and trust; they are NOT better judges than a spouse, and their arrogance in behaving like they are is astounding.
They need to be devoting their stretched resources to the deluge of cases - violence, strife, neglect, drug abuse - where there are positively strings of direct evidence of harm to the poor kids. Maybe they'll achieve something then.

You can watch it on 4od. It followed 2 separate stories throughout a year and gave genuine accounts and used actors to do voice overs. It was very disappointing they didn’t cover a family with younger children, one of the families the children were older and maintained a relationship with their dad. Would of loved to see a story with younger children and the involvement of social services.

Yes a pity, but not surprising. This area is airbrushed out of existence, because it's a minority (dads of young children) within a minority (sex offenders), with the wholesale media vilification thrown in, it's easy for the social services to get away with their draconian 'protective' bordering-on-downright-cruel ways. Basically nobody is going to raise a voice for such an ugly minority, and everybody appears content even to have the children suffering by separation, just so long as Dad 'who only has himself to blame' is punished. Would certainly have been very thought-provoking to have some small children interviewed, expressing how sad and confused they are by the sudden and massive disappearance of their Dad (exactly as some posters on here have related). Was never going to happen, though; the programme makers or public can't be bothered to argue 'for God's restore contact and help reconcile these families', it's just risk risk risk and demonization.
I believe the programme simplistically reduced it to 'no forgiveness' spouse and 'still love him in a way' spouse. Wow, so daring.
