City951, I bleed in sympathy for you. I am 7 months into a community order now, and have not been able to have unsupervised contact with my sons (10 and 12) for 18 months since the investigation started. I suppose I'll never get it, even though my SHPO allows it with my ex-wife's consent. It's not worth the paper it's written on - and I now believe my crown court judge knew it (that CS would step in: he was paying lip-service to human rights to a family life, because a legal challenge in 2013 by some offenders set the precedent and won them access - but I bet they didn't get it anyway, because of CS.)
They have even banned me talking to my son on the phone or writing to him - no reason given, other than it is 'technically Unsupervised' and I'm guessing because I displayed suicidal utterances and was sectioned after an attempt 9 months ago - now fully recovered despite the measures by CS which caused my despair in the first place. The stupid thing is, I was having regular calls to him all during that crisis period and in hospital, and now I realise it was only because CS did not know about it. Thank God, as it was the only thing that gave me the will to live. Yet NOW, when I'm recovered and showing the patience of a saint, they deem to ban the calls! This was because, foolishly and trustingly I divulged it to my probation worker, confiding what factors 'increased my morale' during my rehabilitation. After I'd gone she jumped on the phone to CS to inform them.
They simply don't get the harm they do or don't care, and any level of draconian can be justified as child protection. Offenders simply have no voice, though, as the media has done such a complete job in tandem with campaigners in making pariahs out of all shades of sex offender, as though one kind of offence means we could go onto any manner of offence - 'because it's sex' - it's pathetic, and cruel cruel cruel, it really is. Back-covering is the only explanation for this level of savagery, because if they had any sentiment towards family life or genuine empathy for children, they would not be destructively draconian to this degree. I believe they are made genuinely deranged and cruel by the power and prestige 'child protection' gives them. It's the modern equivalent of being wrapped in the holy banner of the Inquisition. Sadly it will be a generation or more before insight and humanness prevails in this: It will begin with a long overdue overhaul of Social Services, and bit by bit sex offenders actually being given a public voice, treated as human beings and not seen simply as frankenstein's monster.

[quote="Scared2" , feel like we have all just been left hanging and not know what happens next , my son is 14 and goes to football and stuff with my hubby ( well did )[/quote]
This is so sad to hear, and a familiar scenario to me. I make no bones about this, Scared2 - in my opinion this is child abuse perpetrated against your son by the Social Services. Not that that helps you very much, and it will be years before our society recognizes it as such. In fact, such a statement will probably be censored. Stay strong.
