Re: housing and council tax benefit new law sgo r/o
Thank you for providing this link, juseas. It will be very helpful for anybody with an RO or SGO who is claiming housing benefit or council tax benefit. The rules for both of these benefits are incredibly complex, and I'm not sure all of the officers who implement them are always fully up to date with them, so it might be very helpful if you can point out exactly where it says your benefits are now exempt in the calculation.
This was incidentally inserted into last year's budget as the result of lobbying by FRG and other organisations in the Kinship Care Alliance. We are part of a group of tax and benefits experts who are lobbying the government around the whole issue of the effects the changes to the benefits system will have on family and friends carers.
