Our SGO was granted on Friday with the proviso of no contact w birth parents for a minimum of 6 months. Little one arrived with us end of July and with support of local social services we have finally come through to the SGO hearing before xmas. Neither parent contested (they just ignored it)....we have no doubt of the challenges ahead and we know contact will be the major issue but for now at least we can enjoy xmas safe in the knowledge we are in the driving seat.
I just wanted to let everyone know and especially those involved in protracted court cases that are far more complex than ours - we know that 6 months is a very short time for all of this to have happened and sorted so we are very grateful - but to remind everyone that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am especially grateful to this forum for the support and guidance - I couldnt have coped without it, not least for knowing that there are many others in our situation.
Happy Christmas to all X
