Re: psychological assessment
As far as you are concerned you can refuse anything ..... but you take the risk that the court might take such a refusal as something you don't intend! [V]
As far as the child is concerned we successfully argued to the court that there had been too many adults involved directly with the child and this was having a "harmful" effect. At that point I think he had already been seen by 17 professionals when you counted the child psychiatrist, assistant to the child psych, two different hospital consultants, heaven knows how many social workers, plus 2 Cafcass, play therapist (worse than useless!) Educational psychologist, specialist teachers etc. etc. etc. and all within just over a year. SS wanted him to be assessed and took the matter back to court for directions because we and Cafcass were saying enough is enough. The judge ruled that for him to undergo another assessment was "bordering on abuse" and the psychologist should see us, Mum and Dad but not the child. (Although she met him briefly when visiting the house).
So if you think its having an negative effect, write down everyone that the child has been involved with and present it as evidence. SS may not listen, but the judge is likely to in my experience.
By the way, even after the psychological assessment, SS still wanted yet another independent assessment of us (We were [quote] 'Too good'! However we raised the issue with the judge who asked the barrister for SS 'How is this going to inform the court on anything that that we do not know already?' No sensible answer was forthcoming so the judge ruled against them and listed it for the final hearing! [:)] If you think that this will show nothing new, then by all means challenge it on cost and time grounds. The court has a duty to resolve these cases as soon as possible.

Re: psychological assessment
It must be very stressful, trapper. Being watched just cooking a meal sounds a bit unnecessary and must make you feel very self-conscious. Hang in there, not too long to go now.
