Hi All

I called our LA today who had nothing for us but gave me the number of the Adoption and Special Guardianship Advice Line. (01795 566220) The lovely lady was so sorry but they just have no funding for a service for kinship care at present but it is something that are aware of and would love to be able to help. There are only 3 1/2 people working this small agency at the moment and they are stretched to the limit. Now I have called she promised that it would be raised again.

Back to the drawing board. I am of to SureStart today to see if they would like to help.

For anyone setting up a support group, please note that you can get advice and help through the process from Family Rights Group consultant Chris Leaves. Chris has been running her own Second Generation support group in Peterborough for 17 years, and she is a lovely person who I am sure you would find really helpful. You can call her on 01733 751531 - if she's not there when you call, leave a message and she will get back to you.

Have spoken to Chris who was really helpful. Our local Sure Start are keen to help too and I am going to get the ball rolling by getting posters out etc.

I did all of that muspark, talked to Chris also put leaflets in local health centres, sure start etc (sure start even offered use of a room)but all I got back was Spice!!!! Glad I did mind you cos it's great having someone who really understands what it is like I suppose the point I'm trying to make is I've tried and keep trying yet the only real true response I got was through this site.

There are three of us in Kent that we know of so I am hoping we can weed out some more. Even if I only get two I will call ourselves a group - I am not proud[;)]
