Welcome to Family Rights Group's discussion forum for family and friends carers, cazzap06.

It sounds as if you are in the middle of a very difficult and distressing family situation. What is happening to your daughter and to your grandson both sound very worrying.

At the moment, you are trying to help both of them, and it sounds as though it is quite stressful and worrying for you. However, there may come a point when you have to decide which of them to put first. If your daughter continues to be unable to manage her problems, and it becomes clear that she won't be in a position to bring her son up, then you may get approached to see if you would be able to bring him up yourself. That in itself will be a big decision, given your grandson's special needs, but it would be additionally difficult if your daughter couldn't accept the decision that she was unable to bring him up.

It sounds as though you are still hopeful that your daughter can sort out her problems and bring him up herself. Obviously it would be great if this could happen, as you must be very worried about what is going to happen to her otherwise. However, you do also need to think through what will happen to your grandson if things don't work out that way.

Hunny your daughter has gone from Life choices to being controlled by drink but only she can change that. As you say your priority is your Grandson. You did the only thing you could and that was be honest. Had you woken her and dragged her there then they would be questioning your capabilities . While we all want what is best for our children we have to distance out selves to a certain degree demonstrating that the child comes first. You are no longer alone we are here with you.

Dear cappa06

I have responded to your other post, so will not repeat the advice here, but thought it may be helpful for you to contact Cruse to see if there is any suppor they can offer you at this time.

All the best.

Best Wishes

Suzie
