Positive outcome of Assessment before panel

Post by nunny » Thu Oct 11, 2012 6:32 pm

We have just heard that our assessment is positive so we will be going to panel soon. Does anyone know the percentage that get through the panel. We are apprehensive and don`t want anything to go wrong any suggestions.

Nunny, I can't give you the percentages, but if the social worker is recommending your approval (is it to the fostering panel or another sort of panel?), then your chances are good.

Panels are independent bodies, and they do sometimes go against what the social worker recommends, but in the majority of cases they don't.

You will probably help your case if you go along to the panel in person, even if you are a bit nervous. Some fostering panels are more cautious about approving family and friends carers, but when they meet the actual carers they can be reassured.
