Fun Day in Lambeth, South London

Post by David Roth » Wed Sep 03, 2014 10:25 am

Family Rights Group will be holdign its next Fun Day for family and friends carers, and the children they are raising, on Saturday 13th December.

The Fun Day will be held in Brockwell Park, which is located in the London Borough of Lambeth, and it will be from 12-4pm. The British Rail stop at Herne Hill is directly adjacent to the park, and it is a short walk from Brixton (map here: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?rls=com. ... CBYQtQMwAA)

There will be FRG staff there, including the ever-wonderful Chris Leaves.

We are holding this Fun Day in Lambeth because we are aware that this borough has one of the highest rates in the country of children being raised by family and friends carers — 1 in every 30 children in Lambeth is being raised in family and friends care. However, support groups are not available for many of these kinship families, and we hope that it might be possible to develop a support group from the carers who come to this Fun Day.

If you are a family and friends carer who lives in or near Lambeth, please do come along, it will be a great opportunity to meet with others who are in the same circumstances as you, in an enjoyable setting. If you know any family and friends cares who live in or near Lambeth, please tell them about this Fun Day. This could be the start of something wonderful!
