It could be worth speaking to the school about this.

If the extra support being provided is through the Virtual School Head, then it would be linked to the child's looked after status. Support would no longer be provided via the VSH once the child was no longer looked after.

However, as a previously looked after child, now under SGO or RO, the child would still attract the extra funding of the Pupil Premium. This would be £1,900 per year, and it is paid to the school not the VSH. The school don't have to spend exactly that amount on the pupil who qualifies them for the Pupil Premium - they are given the whole amount for all pupils who qualify for the Pupil Premium as a lump sum, which they can choose how to spend, although they do have to demonstrate they are using it to improve the educational achievements of those pupils. But the school could choose to spend £3,800 on one pupil and nothing on another, it depends how they assess the extra help that each pupil needs.

It could be worth talking to the school about how they would spend the Pupil Premium on the child you are raising, once they have responsibility for the funds. Would they be willing to continue to fund the support she now gets? They might not be able to give you a definite answer at this stage, but they would at least be aware of you as a carer willing to put the case forward for their child.
