Re: No financial support
Annoyingly its such a common issue with local authorities out to save money at every step. Your difficulty is that your call came from the police and not Childrens Services at the local authority. I suspect Suzie will be along soon with some further advice, but you probably need to start by putting ...

Re: An unusual Reg 24 placemenet
I am not aware of anything that generally prevents a parent contacting foster parents. Indeed, as former foster parents, we were positively encouraged to engage with the parent(s) where this was practical especially around arranging contact etc. We are still in regular contact (Christmas cards etc) ...

Re: Does Children's Services Have a Portal To DBS?
Hi Bob. Many people end up having to represent themselves in person. Most find the thought worse than the actual experience. Don't forget that no-one, especially the judge, will expect you to be familiar with the court process. Do you know if CAFCASS is involved, and if so, have they asked that the ...

Re: Does Children's Services Have a Portal To DBS?
Yes. If it's in court, you have to deal with the matter there. Unfortunately a significant proportion of posters here complain the SW manipulate facts, or tell down tight lies. They can't all be misunderstanding things. We ended up having a 18 month independent enquiry into Children's Services behav...

Re: Does Children's Services Have a Portal To DBS?
Any authorised body can access DBS. Normally you have to give permission but I suspect Children's Services, along with the police do not need your permission. A portal is just a posh name for a website giving access to the data, so it sounds like a bit of SW self-important piffle. You can go to Acro...

Re: Problems with contact
I suggest you go back to SS and tell them that you supervising contact is not working because of Mum's behaviours. Will they assist with a contact centre? They have a duty to support the placement. Some of this, including the amount of contact taken up, is quite normal immediately following the fina...

Re: Need advice on rights
There is nothing to stop her writing it, but whether it would carry any weight legally is questionable at best. Not an area I have come across, but I do not think legally anyone can 'give away' Parental Responsibility (PR) to another. Even if it did carry any legality, a court is, I suspect, unlikel...

Re: R.e teenages
We did put some advice in your other thread https://www.frg.org.uk/FandFCForum/viewtopic.php?t=5232 , but you do raise a couple of new points here? You say the school are not taking your granddaughters allegations seriously. Do you know if the police have been informed? You need to check with the so...

Re: Advice Regarding Residency Order
That's a tough one. So sad when relationship breakdowns adversely affect the children. Several things spring to mind. 1. She is certainly old enough know her mind and wishes. 2. Although the Residence Order lasts until 18, realistically it's probably un-enforceable and at this point can probably 'in...
