Re: Kinship Care Allowance - a small victory!

Well done. I'm really pleased.

The only thing that astounds me is that you managed to get anyone in Social Services to agree anything in writing in the first place! Was it the thumbscrews or the rack that persuaded them to sign? [;)]

Re: Residency Order

<t>G C.<br/> <br/> The law in Scotland is different to England and Wales. The main act up there is the Children (Scotland) Act 1995, but I should have thought that any application for a residence order would still have to be filed on all parties before the court made a decision.<br/> <br/> One of th...

<r>Hi Deborah,<br/> <br/> This forum is aimed at grandparents and unfortunately, it's only funded for this purpose. However, to give you a little guidance please find the following. <br/> <br/> You will find the DIY residence order on <URL url="http://www.frg.org.uk">www.frg.org.uk</URL>. Look under...

I'm taking this off-line and I've e-mail my thoughts to her last question directly to Laura.

Re: finicial help

<r>Hi,<br/> <br/> The simple answer is 'possibly'! I'm afraid things are not simple as it depends on specific circumstances. I suggest you start by reading this <URL url="http://www.frg.org.uk/Publications/Financial%20Support%20Kinship%20Carers.pdf"><s>[url="http://www.frg.org.uk/Publications/Financ...

Re: Residency order/parental responsibility

<t>Hi Laura, Sorry to butt in again, but my question in reponse is why your partner wants to push for a Residence Order? Personally I don't see the need as there are thousands of families living out there where children are living with new partners 'by consent'. They have no order to say it's OK, an...

Re: Parental Responsibility

<t>Hi Emegms6,<br/> <br/> I'm not absolutely certain, but in my experience it's normal for the court to give residence to either mother or father, rather than one of them and their new partner, unless the latter is specifically requested. To ease confusion, I will assume the child is with the mother...

Re: Residence Order to Adoption?

<t>Interesting that you feel whatever the mother does is 'self serving'. It's something many other carers have complained of and is an on-going issue. SG at least allows you as the carer to exercise PR to the exclusion of the parent if in the childs interest. However, I agree it is challengable - bu...

Re: Residency order/parental responsibility

<t>Laura,<br/> <br/> I guess the fact that you are up at after 1am posting indicates the stress you are feeling about all this and what a terrible time you've had. Yes. This forum is for grandparents, but I'm sure no-one here will get particularly upset if I give you some advice especially as it's r...

Re: Residence Order to Adoption?

<t>Hi Johanna.<br/> <br/> We are in a very similar position in that we have the child of a foster daughter of ours. When there were problems with his schooling Social Services then said we were not his grandparents (although he had known us as that from birth) and thet we were privately fostering! W...
