Re: Difficult Decision
I agree it's a difficult decision that only your wife and you can make in reality. It's a huge commitment to make. From my perspective the pro's and con's that you may not have seen are as follows: Pro's. - The child gets brought up within the wider family. Where possible that is known to benefit th...

Re: Financial review
I am sure Suzie will be along soon to give you a better idea, but in your position, I would be contacting my local councillor for support and possible explanation, and in the absence of a satisfactory one, I would be asking my MP to get involved. Sounds like one local authority may have come up with...

Re: Help and advice
Is there any way you can put a semi permanent partition in the room (or bigger room and move others around), perhaps with your niece furthest from the existing doorway so that they each have their own space, and your daughter coming in late would not disturb your nieces sleep. If done as a stud part...

Re: New to fostering: What are we entitled to?
Hi oceanpowa and welcome. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you post, or yet any indication that you are in it for the money. I wonder though if you will get more direct answers to most of your questions from The Fostering Network https://www.thefosteringnetwork.org.uk/advice-information as man...

Make sure you tell them in writing that you want to move to Stage 3. If they reply with a refusal, you can put it straight to the LGO Ombudsman. https://www.lgo.org.uk/ . I am fairly certain the Mumby judgement will apply in that if the local authority were involved with the placement then you shoul...

Re: can anyone give advice please?
So sorry to hear of your difficulties. Unfortunately, it's all too often an occurrence for one parent to cut the children off from the rest of their family. I will assume in my reply that Children's Services are no longer involved making this is a private law matter. I will attempt to answer as far ...

Re: Ending an sgo!
Whatever the legal position, he is currently a child in need and Children's Services cannot simply refuse to help. Were I in your shoes, I would be contacting my local councillor and ask them to intervene to get him some proper help. Or perhaps call the NSPCC and ask if they would refer it as a chil...

Re: Feel Like I have lost my three Grand-children forever.
I am so sorry you have had to endure losing contact with your grandchildren. I did read your first post earlier, but to be honest, I struggled to formulate a response. To answer your last question first, having been through the adoption process with four children, I can tell you that it sometimes ta...

Re: Where do we stand
I don't believe SGO's existed last time breeds were banned, so I suspect there is no legal precedent. The Local Authority have to do an assessment for the court before an order can be made. Part of this relates to risk to the child. No-one can entirely eliminate risk in the home, but having bare ele...
