Re: contesting a failed assessment

Dear grandmotherwoody Welcome to the Family and Friends Carers’ discussion board and thank you for your post. My name is Suzie, Family Rights Group’s online adviser. I am very sorry to hear that you have had negative assessments for both family and friends foster care and for special guardianship. D...

Re: Supervised contact - who pays it?

Dear Lumiru, I think it was my mistake! I have clearly mixed things up. Thanks for posting again. Your granddaughter is under a care order so she is a "looked after child". Children services should be promoting contact between her and the extended family unless it is not consistent with yo...

Re: What should I do next

Hi Nan53, It is not clear from your post why granddaughters dad has not been involved in the earlier part of the care proceedings. Was his address unknown? He has now been aware of the proceedings since March 2018 when he was served with the transcript. I would have expected him to have also been se...

Re: Supervised contact - who pays it?

Dear Lumiru, I can see that the issue around who pays for the supervised contact centre has now been resolved. Children services have agreed to pay for the contact centre. The regulations that govern special guardianship orders, state that children services can help with contact arrangements to enab...

Re: Inappropriate Treatment

Dear nannygems, I can see that you are worried about the level of care your grandsons are receiving and you understandably raised your concerns with their social worker. However, you were disappointed by her response. She referred to the ages of the children and how they can make their own decisions...

Re: In need of Advice

Hi Morphb2003, I am not sure what is happening either. Procedures that govern care proceedings are very strict about timetabling of court hearings. This is to try and avoid any unnecessary delay in planning for a child’s future. I wonder whether the final hearing has taken place and everyone is wait...

Re: In desperate need of help

Dear Ihatehypocrisy, I am sorry to hear that you have had such a terrible time with children services. I do not know what is happening at the moment and whether they are still in your family’s life. I would generally advise of the importance to work with children services as they are a statutory age...

Re: In need of Advice

Hi Morphb2003,

Is the case you are referring to is taking place in Scotland? If so, you could contact the Scottish child law centre.

Family Rights Group can only advise about the law in England and Wales.

Best wishes,

Suzie
