SGO - Renewing child's passport

Has anyone with an SGO had any problems renewing the child's passport?

Do you have to provide any documentation other than the old passport and the court order? Does it take longer?

Thanks

Re: social services and legal costs..anyone have info?

<t>I believe that the court costs and the SGO allowance are 2 totally seperate issues. In our case we had no idea that there was an allowance available (hopelessly naive, I know) so didn't ask to be assessed for it but this is means tested by most LAs and awarded according to need.<br/> With regard ...

Re: sgo

<t>Hi,<br/> Just because you have to give the details of others with PR on the forms, it doesn't mean that they can go to the nursery and "get" your GD.<br/> When I registered our LO for Playgroup, I put the names of her Mum & Dad on the forms and stated that we had no contact details for them. ...

<t>We have an SGO for our niece. When the assessment process began, her parents insisted that they wanted contact with her twice a week. Social Services recommendation was twice per year!! When the parents realised that they weren't going to get their own way, they told SW that they wanted to fight ...

Re: SGO - reversal? Anyone know of this happening?

<t>We have an SGO in respect of our niece, and I had exactly the same concerns as you about it being reversed because of a change in Mum's circumstances (in fact, my only previous post was asking almost the identical question!). It is horrible living with the uncertainty, particularly when the paren...

Re: advise needed please

<t>I would definitely tell SS that you can't afford the legal costs. Our Social Workers initially "tried it on" over court costs - first saying that we had to pay the legal costs ourselves (even though the SGO was their suggestion) and then telling us to apply for legal aid. It was only when we were...

Re: SGO

<t>I don't want to be negative and totally understand your concern for your grandaughter's welfare, however, if the long term plan is for the child to return to live with her parents then SS won't support an application for an SGO. The SGO is intended to remain in place until the child is 18, so is ...

Re: Is an SGO likely to be discharged?

<t>Thanks all for your advice and positive vibes!!<br/> <br/> I'm feeling alot calmer now. We've heard nothing more from our niece's Mum and, on reflection I think she probably was trying it on. I'am now going to sit back and wait - if we do hear from solicitors / court then we'll face that when it ...

Re: Is an SGO likely to be discharged?

<t>Thanks, Robin.<br/> That sort of confirms what my "sensible" head is telling me but sometimes (usually in the middle of the night) emotions take over and I just think "what if"....if that makes any sense.<br/> <br/> I will definitely keep a record of any future calls. I don't think we will be off...

Is an SGO likely to be discharged?

<t>We have a Special Guardianship Order in respect of our niece. She is nearly 3 years old and has lived with us since she was 10 weeks old. Her biological father, my brother-in-law, passed away last November from an overdose of heroin and alcohol but she had only ever had very limited contact with ...
