Re: Advice over grandaughter

ask to be assessed as a foster carer / connected person carer if they placed her they should be paying you. You can claim the benefit as the child is with you but BM may still be claiming and that will delay any claim up to 12 weeks. If the child is ill etc you cannot take her to the Dr ( unless eme...

Re: Pregnant again what will happen next?

They may decide to support the child with the family or if the evidence they had from last time was enough to feel this child in danger they would be seeking to place siblings together. You could contact by letter the childrens services that you are willing to be considered as carers if the parents ...

Re: Grandparent contact

Nannygems, sorry to hear this to be honest no one can advise you without knowing as much as possible . It may also be a case that you are not aware of the concerns and if 7 days is set aside there must be a lot to sort. Have you spoken to your MP as Suzie advised?

Re: Help with kinship care

Sorry if the children's services are placing the children and you have had an assessment ( even of just viability) whey are they calling this a private arrangement?? Re: Help with kinship care

Most of the kinship families I know have restricted contact of course it depends on the circumstances . Some have as little as 4 times a year . we had 2 hours every 8 weeks . You need to be mindful that ...

Re: Help with kinship care

It is likely they will assess you as foster carers in the first instance. They will ask very intrusive questions and want references etc. If they agree you are suitable the children will be placed with you. They will probably want you to go for a care order to get them out of the care system. Probab...

Re: SGO 8 years, contact rules possibly changed?

You are the special Guardian your decision personally I am sensing you are reluctant to allow unsupervised contact. I also feel you should choose any supervisor or continue yourself.. The children's services cannot make that decision neither would they have the files to hand or discuss them. Just be...

Re: SGO Rferences

Hi. Depends on the referee . eg Boss or Friend etc ours were asked how long they had known us . In what capacity they know us . do they know our children. How do they feel we would cope with the SGO children. Are we the sort of people who would ask for help if needed. all quite general. They are try...
