Re: SGO Rferences

Hi. Depends on the referee . eg Boss or Friend etc ours were asked how long they had known us . In what capacity they know us . do they know our children. How do they feel we would cope with the SGO children. Are we the sort of people who would ask for help if needed. all quite general. They are try...

Re: Sgo order... Can I give birth mother back her child.

You would have to go through the legal process .Hello the birth Mother applies to the court to have the SGO discharged then her abilities will be assessed. Her change of lifestyle and priorities will support her. As you are obviously in agreement the process should be quite smooth.

Re: Fostering allowance for family members

Sorry no idea re housing benefit though I do believe a foster child is not counted as being there as not considered a permanent occupant. So may not be able to claim it.

Re: Fostering allowance for family members

Family members or "connected persons" are usually paid the rate of level one carers as you are approved for specific child / children. There is a skills and salary element with stranger carers. You would need to do training courses to achieve the skills. The Munby judgement said that famil...

Re: Taking on Niece/Nephews

Hi s a carer I understand your frustrations completely. Fostering will give you more support for the children it will also give you meetings and visits from the sw every few weeks . While essentially becomes a bins and having to ask permission to do anything including babysitters./ visitors to the h...

Re: Taking on Niece/Nephews

Hello possibly they would want to keep all the children together. Though they may consider the younger ones coming to you. You may be expected to give up work some carers have had to. Depends on the needs. If you foster then you would receive an allowance it is highly likely you would be persuaded o...

Re: No references. Other options to pass assessment?

None of our referees knew the children during our assessment .We lived in a different town. We were asked for personal referees. We had family members, good friends. The children didn't move in until after the assessment process . Our friends only had to be brief about themselves but say how long th...
