Harrow Council's Children and Families Directorate is looking for a dynamic Family Group Conference Manager to join their Access to Resource team. The post holder will report into Access to Resource Team Manager and will be responsible for overseeing, managing and developing the Family Group Conferences service (FGC), in order to deliver a service that contributes to positive outcomes for children, families, agencies and the community.

The post holder will ensure that the service allows families to actively participate in key decisions and plans, and ensuring they are implemented with the best interest of the child at the centre, and improving life changes and outcomes.

The post holder will develop the scope and vision for the service and will ensure that FGC's are used as a positive, preventative or early intervention measure across the directorate. Ensuring that children are safeguarded, welfare is promoted and appropriate risk assessments are carried out in line with statutory legislation and guidance and working in partnership with appropriate agencies will also be a requirement.

In addition, the post holder will ensure an outcome-focused approach that puts children and families at the centre of our services and improve outcomes for children through earlier and more holistic intervention, integrated multidisciplinary delivery, and effective partnership working.

To be successful in this role you would need to have the following skills & experience:

In depth knowledge and understanding of principles and processes of Family Group Conferences
    Dip in SW, CQSW or a GSCC validated equivalent from another country
      FGC Qualification
        Sound knowledge of current policy and legislation related to children and young people
          especially the Children Act 1989, the Children Act 2004, Assessment Framework,
            Working Together 2010, Change for children, Every Child Matters, Care Matters and Public Law Outline
              Extensive knowledge and understanding of risk assessment with families with multiple disadvantages
                Detailed knowledge/understanding of the implications of relevant legislation and guidance for child protection and child care
                  Experience of effective management of complex meetings, including those with professionals, parents and children
                    Extensive professional experience of working with vulnerable children and their families, relating to complex case issues
                      Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and with a range of audiences.
