Somerset County Council offers an exciting opportunity to join a new Family Group Conferencing Service. You may already be trained, or will receive training to deliver Family Group Conferences to families with vulnerable children, particularly those at risk of entering or remaining in Care in the longer term.

You will be required to adhere to established standards and procedures in line with national guidance and best practice in order to improve outcomes for children and young people by enabling families to produce plans, addressing their children’s needs.

You will represent the new service effectively to other professionals and service users, working respectfully with all parties and communities to promote participation.

The vulnerability of the children we work with is increasing, society is changing and the framework within which we operate can be expected to evolve at an increasing pace. Therefore you must be prepared to learn and adapt rapidly to these changing contexts as demands arise. The children and families we work with have their own priorities, demands and commitments. Therefore you must be prepared to work flexibly, which will include some evenings and weekends.
