Help at Hand: Support for Asian families in need
This video is intended for community groups, advice workers and family members themselves. The video tells the stories of three real families who faced particular difficulties but who were able to obtain some practical help from their local social services department. The video is available in the following languages: English, Bengali(Sylheti), Gujarati, Hindi/Urdu and Punjabi. A booklet accompanies the video and provides further information about the role of social services departments in terms of their duties and powers to support families and the role of community groups in helping families to access that support. Taking Care of the Children: Video or DVD for Family Members
The video shows two fictional family group conferences. These were created with the help of families who have attended a family group conference. Interspersed are comments on family group conferences by family members, co-ordinators and social workers. The video shows how a family group conference works and will be useful for family members and young people who may be attending a family group conference.
