Updating Your Knowledge and Practice for Independent Reviewing Officers and Chairs of Child Protection Conferences

This course provides an opportunity for senior practitioners to update their knowledge on the law, policy and research on planning for permanence.
Course designed for: independent reviewing officers, chairs of child protection conferences, child care reviewing managers and experienced senior managers of child care services.
The course and training materials will:
- Cover planning for permanence;
- Examine the legal framework including the Children Acts 1989 and 2004, the Human Rights Act 1998, child protection procedures, and adoption law (current and new frameworks);
- Address challenging inertia when children are in long-term care;
- Explore service user involvement in individual cases and at a strategic level in planning service delivery;
- Look at how to build in evaluation and monitor quality.
