Introduction to Child Care Law and Child Protection Procedures
Length: one or two days
Many staff working with families and children require an understanding of child care law and of child protection procedures. The one day course gives a basic introduction. The two day course is advised for staff who require a more detailed knowledge of the law. This course can be offered in conjunction with the course on advocacy for families.
Course designed for: those working with families whose children are involved with social services. The course content will vary according to the needs and knowledge of participants
The course will:
- Give an overview of the Children Act 1989 and 2004, the Human Rights Act 1998, child protection procedures and the Adoption and Children Act 2002 (current and new frameworks);
- Explore key principles underpinning the legislation and guidance; and
- Focus upon tensions and practice dilemmas regarding partnership working with families.
