Congratulations to Family Rights Group's first ever marathon runner

Many congraluations to Hayley for finishing the 2009 Flora London marathon in 4 hours 17 minutes.

This marathon is a first for both Hayley and for Family Rights Group.  Hayley started running last July and has really got the bug.  She's done two half marathons since September and can be found (by those crazy enough to be up at that time - ed.) running around central Reading at the crack of dawn on weekdays and by the Thames at the weekend.  Hayley has two children aged 5 and 3 and is married to Duncan, who is the son of one of Family Rights Group's fantastic trustees, Rita Stringfellow.  Hayley works in marketing for Quaker Oats and also enjoys doing Tae Kwondo, singing in a local choir and trying to grow vegetables.

Help us to improve the situation of family and friends carers and the children they are raising 

The monies that you donate will make an important contribution to the Charity's target of raising £20000 to fund its campaign work to improve the situation of grandparents raising grandchildren who cannot live with their parents due to tragedy or trauma.  The charity estimates there are more than 200,000 children in this country being raised by family and friends carers, such as grandparents, aunts and uncles. Many of these children are extremely vulnerable and the relatives raising them are older and have health and financial difficulties. These family and friends carers are struggling to survive financially, emotionally and socially, receiving little, if anything, from the State to meet these children’s needs.  The charity is seeking to raise in total £20,000 to fund its campaign and lobbying work so that these children's needs are no longer invisible to politicians, the media and the rest of society; and we can present decision makers with considered and practical solutions.
