Fathers Matter discussion board for practitioners

We have been funded by the Parenting Fund to explore and help dismantle the barriers encountered by fathers and paternal relatives whose children are involved with social services.

Do you have good practice examples we should know about? Are there ideas about engaging fathers that you want to discuss wtih other practitioners?

We are seeking examples and views from practitioners across the country about effective working and best-practice by social care agencies and practitioners in engaging fathers and paternal relatives in the safe care of their children.

If you think there are lessons we could learn from your organisations or project, if you are holding a relevant event or are aware of good practice then please post use the noticeboard.

You can view and read postings before registering but in order to contribute you need to be a registered member. If you would like to register now please click here. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes. The only required fields are your Username, which may be your real name or a nickname, and a valid e-mail address. Once you've filled in and submitted the registration form, you will receive an email with a link that you will need to click on in order to activate your registration.

If you have already registered, or would like to register later on please go straight through to the notice board now. NETIQUETTE

We'd like the discussion boards to be a safe place for people to exchange ideas and talk about subjects close to their hearts. For this reason we may occasionally remove postings, either because they are offensive or abusive, or because they are libelous and could put us in legal jeopardy. If messages are off topic they may be removed or placed in a more suitable area. We also reserve the right to ban visitors who use offensive language or act in an antisocial or unacceptable way.

  1. Please be aware that posting on a board is not always the same as talking and something that might be said in a lighthearted manner could easily be misunderstood or taken the wrong way and cause offence.
  2. Writing in CAPITALS is known as shouting, and some people find this offensive (it is also harder to read).
  3. We will not tolerate racism, sexism or homophobia in any posting.

If you read something that you find offensive, please inform the administrator, giving the location of the message.
